  • Marina Bay

    Marina Bay

Here’s the translation in English, Konrad:

    All about Marina Bay Sands

We’ve gathered some fascinating facts about Marina Bay Sands to better capture the essence of this incredible building.

The hotel features 2,561 rooms spread across three hotel towers.

The building measures 191 meters and has 57 floors.

The famous rooftop Infinity Pool has a length of 146 meters.

In total, the rooftop SkyPark is longer than the height of the Eiffel Tower.

The rooftop can accommodate up to 3,900 people.

Construction of the hotel cost more than 8 billion SGD (approximately 5 billion euros).

The hotel reportedly generates about 1 billion SGD in profit annually. Not bad, right?

Around 10,000 employees work in the entire complex.

The hotel is owned by Las Vegas Sands Corporation, known primarily for its casinos.

Marina Bay Sands’ casino offers over 600 tables and 2,500 slot machines.

Impressive, isn’t it? No wonder Marina Bay Sands ranks among the most famous hotels in the world. Alongside attractions like Sentosa Island and the Supertree Grove, a visit here is an absolute must during any trip to Singapore.

How to access the Infinity Pool

Admiring the Singapore skyline from nearly 200 meters above ground in the Infinity Pool—this is the dream for many travelers, and we admit, it’s an enticing thought.

But here’s the catch: The pool is exclusive to hotel guests. Sadly, you can’t just throw on your swimwear and stroll into Marina Bay Sands. There are no exceptions—otherwise, the pool would burst at the seams.

To access the pool, you must stay at least one night at Marina Bay Sands. Hotel guests receive wristbands granting access to the pool.

Fair warning: enjoying this iconic pool definitely comes with a hefty price tag. Room rates are steep—but more on that soon.

Best time to visit the pool

The pool is least crowded around midday and in the early afternoon.

Many guests stay just one night to experience the pool, making it busiest in the late afternoon. After morning checkout, the pool is usually significantly emptier.

That means you’d ideally book at least two nights at the hotel to enjoy a less crowded pool experience.

Singapore hotel tips – Where to stay best

    #1 Rooms with a view

As previously mentioned, Marina Bay Sands has 57 floors. Upper-floor rooms offer stunning views, whereas lower-floor rooms don’t. Rooms with a view are more expensive but definitely worth it. If the booking doesn’t explicitly mention a view, your room won’t have one.

For the best views, choose between harbor view or city view. We find the city view significantly more spectacular.

Check room categories and prices at Marina Bay Sands here.

#2 How much does it cost to stay at Marina Bay Sands?

There are several room categories available at Marina Bay Sands. Currently (as of 2023), the cheapest double room starts at around 500 euros per night. The more luxury you desire, the higher the price. A suite of nearly 100 square meters costs around 1,600 euros.

#3 Is staying at Marina Bay Sands worth it?

We haven’t stayed there personally yet, but we asked our Instagram followers whether staying at Marina Bay Sands is worth the price. The clear response: “Yes”.

Only a handful wouldn’t necessarily recommend it but still felt glad they tried it. The majority say it’s an unforgettable experience.

How to access the Observation Deck

The view of Singapore’s skyline from Marina Bay Sands is spectacular.

If staying overnight at Marina Bay Sands isn’t within your budget or plans, you still don’t have to miss out on one of the best views in Singapore. Here are other ways to access the rooftop:

    #1 Public Observation Deck

The observation deck is especially beautiful at sunset.

On the Supertrees side, you can only photograph through a glass barrier.

On the skyline side, there’s a railing.

The public observation deck is located on the third tower and is open to non-guests. It’s open daily from 11 am to 9 pm.

Our tip: Visit at sunset. The skyline glows with exceptional beauty at this hour, and if you wait a little longer, you can also enjoy the stunning city lights at night.

    Tickets for the Observation Deck

Entry to the observation deck costs around 21 euros. Lines at the ticket counters can be long, especially around sunset. We recommend buying your ticket online in advance.

Your ticket is valid for 6 months from the selected date, so you don’t have to commit to a specific date right away. You can simply show your ticket on your smartphone—no need to print it out.

Get online tickets for Marina Bay Sands Observation Deck here.

Photography tip: Tripods are not allowed. However, we managed to attach our Gorillapod to the railing, capturing fantastic nighttime shots of the skyline after sunset.

#1 Monte da Estrela in Portugal

Like an oasis in the desert, the country house Monte da Estrela is situated in the remote hinterland of the Alentejo region. About 40 kilometers from the mountain village of Monsaraz, hostess Brites and her family have created a peaceful retreat surrounded by olive groves, which they share with their guests.

From the hotel rooms to the fireplace lounge to the outdoor dining area, every space is furnished with great style. As a welcome snack, there’s a bowl of apricots freshly picked from the tree next to the pool. A few steps away, signs guide you to the most beautiful spot for watching the sunset.

Upon my arrival, I first settle into a hanging chair on the terrace with a glass of rosé, cuddling the puppies that are hopping around before the cook whips up a sensational three-course vegetarian dinner. It’s my idea of paradise!

The Monte da Estrela is one of those places you never want to leave. If you’re longing for peaceful tranquility to recharge your batteries, this is the perfect place. You can also easily combine your stay with a Portugal road trip.

You can find availability and prices here. Since Monte da Estrela has only a few rooms, it’s best to book well in advance.
